I've taken the week off for the most part. I still go to Huff and Drudge and Reddit everyday at least twice, but mostly I've been detoxing. No Matthews or Olbermann for me either. I'll be back soon with a state-of-the-race post. Just wanted to digest this speech and see how everyone reacted. Judging from the Richardson endorsement, it helped.

It's nice to go back and read what I wrote on the 19th with a completely new outlook. I took all of yesterday off from politics (I didn't even watch Olbermann!) and I wake up this morning to a completely new perspective - a positive one. I guess I was just burnt out and, sadly, got swept up in the media coverage of Rev. Wright despite the fact that I pride myself on NOT doing exactly that. Yes, we can!

Today is the first day that I have been a bit disappointed with Obama. I agree the speech was amazing and will no doubt go down in history as one of the most important speeches by a politician. But the man and campaign I once loved passionately have left me a little discouraged. How could he associate with someone who could be so negative? I understand he did great things and helped the community, but Jeremiah Wright seems like the polar opposite of Obama and what he stands for. As evidenced by polls, I'm afraid this situation will continue to hurt him. In my honest opinion, I think many people are going to take this event and make it their reason for not voting for him. I think they can now say they oppose him without sounding racist because now they have a "reason." I know Pastor Wright isn't Obama, but we both know how it is perceived by the media and public.

Also, the whole Michigan thing. It seems pretty evident that the Obama campaign is what's standing in the way of a decision there. I know they have legal concerns, but they certainly must understand how it looks to the public. Michigan democrats are on-board, the DNC approved the plan, Hillary is completely on-board, but Obama is seemingly trying to run out the clock. He shouldn't be too worried about a revote. I think he would do fine (certainly not bad enough to allow Hillary to take the lead). I think the positives of accepting the deal outweigh the negatives.

I don't know, I guess I just needed to vent or something. I felt a little disheartened for the first time. I guess time will tell how this thing plays out. I think I maybe just need a break from politics for awhile. I go to Daily Kos, HuffPo, Pollster, Rasmussen, your site, the Obama blog, CNN political ticker and realclearpolitics.com every day at least 10 times, so maybe I'm burnt out.
