Bill Clinton: Hillary’s Hitman

Hitman (Kill Hill)

Bill Clinton isn’t as sly as he thinks he is.

(By the way, how could someone who’s been linked to as many affairs as he’s been — Gennifer Flowers, Juanita Broaddrick, Kathleen Wiley, Monica Lewinsky and Paula Jones, at least — ever really think they’re sly? I’m just asking.)

It isn’t just Dick Morris, a former Clinton strategist, that sees what Bill’s doing. We all see it. Iowa threatened his precious “Clinton Restoration” dream down to its very core, scared the Lewinsky out of him. That’s why he came out guns a’ blazing as Hillary’s hitman during the days leading up to the New Hampshire primary, and has played that same role ever since.

The Clinton camp thinks this strategy it’s working, but it’s not. They fooled us twice already, but this time it isn’t going to work. You see, Slick Willy is serving as a similar diversion to the one that his wife provided him in 1992. Bill thinks that if all of Barack Obama’s focus is on him that not only will it not be on Obama’s inspirational message, but the heat will also be off of Hill. I’ll give him some credit — it worked for a little while.

But Bill’s political thug tactics aren’t working any more.

Why not? There are several reasons.

Hill*Mart: 1977-92

Hill*Mart (Kill Hill)

OBAMA: “While I was working on those streets watching those folks see their jobs shift overseas, you were a corporate lawyer sitting on the board at Wal-Mart.”

Is this true? Yes. In February 1977 - just months after her husband’s election as attorney general of Arkansas - Hillary Clinton joined the Rose law firm, the biggest corporate law firm in the state which represented Wal-Mart, Tyson foods and the local newspaper. One of her first cases involved going to court to defend a food manufacturer against a suit brought by a man who found part of a rat in a can of pork and beans. She was made partner in 1979. She served on the board of Wal-Mart from 1986 to 1992. She was the first woman to serve on the board, following demands from shareholders for more diversity. The New York Times reported on May 20 2007, quoting fellow board members, that she was silent about the firm’s anti-union stand. - Guardian Unlimited

Obamalinks: Pre-Debate Buzz

The Bill and Hill Show

  • Andrew Sullivan — who I’ve started to read quit a bit more recently — not only points out similarities between George W. Bush and Hillary Clinton, but also digs up a video that shows that the Bush camp actually likes HRC and trusts her with its legacy. The article even goes as far as to use words like “Rovian” and “sleaze” to describe the Clintons. In my opinion, getting compared to Karl Rove is about as bad as it gets. He’s a brilliant man, but he’s also the scum of the earth.
  • Slate wonders “what on earth we are doing when we make the Clinton family drama—yet again—a central part of our own politics?”
  • Donklephant takes a look at the Clintons getting exposed on Meet the Press, and looks at the condescending nature of Hillary’s attack on Barack Obama over his comments about Ronald Reagan.
Leading up to South Carolina

  • Meet Obama’s speech writer, Jon Favreau, who says writing for a speaker and writer of Obama’s caliber is like being “Ted Williams’s batting coach.”
  • The Huffington Post says that Obama may face “white resistance” in Southern states. This is exactly the reason why I think it is a good thing for Obama that John Edwards is staying in this race.
  • House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn — “one of the most powerful African-Americans in Congress” — says that Bill Clinton needs to “chill a little bit.”
  • The false Muslim e-mail attacks and rumors have spread so rampantly that Obama has been forced to put out mailers confirming his Christian faith in South Carolina. Don’t worry; Obama is still a very big believer in the separation of church and state.

More to come after the big debate…

The Republicans Are Running Ward Cleaver

Published by Adam under Humor, Images, Mitt Romney

Bill Maher about killed me from laughter a week ago when he said that Mitt Romney “is running for president as Ward Cleaver.” We figured we’d take the joke one step further…

Leave it to Mitt
